Agri-tech | Predator bugs deployed to take out pests

CAPE TOWN – An agri-tech project is happening in Somerset West to protect a very important asset.

A wine farm is setting predator bugs on its bugs.

The 324-year-old Vergelegen wine estate is partnering with SkyBugs to deploy aerially transported insects.

This is to reduce the prevalence of vine disease and help grow better-quality grapes.

Harnessing the power of drone technology, together with biological control of pests, helps farmers minimise or avoid using pesticides.
