Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli says Accio Technologies was not involved in the development of PADU. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, January 9, 2024.

ECONOMY Minister Rafizi Ramli today denied claims that Accio Technologies was involved in the development of the Central Database Hub (PADU).

He said the system was developed by civil servants without a third party.

“I am aware of a social media post by BFM89.9 radio station on Dr Cher Han Lau, the CEO of Accio Technologies, who claims his company is involved in the development of PADU.

“After checking with the Statistics Department (DOSM), I can confirm the allegations by Dr Cher are untrue,” he said in a statement.

Rafizi said the PADU analytics team invited Cher only to upskill staff in data science based on his big data and machine learning experience.

“The PADU development process, the collection or cleaning of PADU data does not involve him or anyone from his company,” he said.

PADU, launched on January 2, contains profiles of Malaysia’s citizens and permanent residents to help the government implement targeted policies.

PADU was jointly developed by the Economy Ministry, DOSM and the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit, as well as various data provider agencies. – Bernama, January 9, 2024.
