About 600 support staff from the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal walked out on a one-day strike on Wednesday.

Included are technicians, professionals, office workers, trades and services, who have an indefinite general strike mandate. They are members of a local section of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the FTQ.

ÉTS is part of the Université du Québec network and specializes in engineering.

The union says the issues in dispute are salaries, teleworking arrangements, internal promotions and recognition of skills.

The collective agreement expired on March 31, 2022; negotiations began the following November.

Asked to comment, management had not yet done so at the time of writing.
