Security cameras going up at lot in Elmwood Park after trustees green light a tech company’s bid

Elmwood Park village trustees approved a bid from a Downers Grove-based technology company to install a security camera system in one of the village’s newest parking lots.

The Village Board voted at the Dec. 4 board meeting to go with the proposal from Critical Technology Solutions to install the camera system at the newly built parking lot located at 75th and Grand avenues.

“We install cameras in all of our parking lots once construction is materially complete,” Village Manager Paul Volpe told Pioneer Press in an email.

The village will pay the tech company $7,931 to purchase and install the system, according to the ordinance.

Volpe said the village will be charged for maintenance “on an as needed basis.” He added there is not a set amount the village will pay annually for upkeep.

“Over the past few years, the Village has implemented a rather comprehensive camera installation around its perimeter and throughout its parks and parking lots,” Volpe stated in an email.
