Hong Kong Shares Up 0.7%; Tech Stocks Support

0605 GMT — Japan shares closed higher, tracking overnight cues from Wall Street. The Nikkei Stock Average finished the day 1.13% higher at 33681.24, supported by technology and automobile stocks. Among individual movers, SoftBank Group closed up 4.2% after touching an more-than two-month high earlier in the session on expectations of investment gains. Other rising tech stocks included Sony, up 1.4%; Hitachi, 1.6% higher; and Fujitec with a 0.8% gain. Toyota rose 1.7% in the automobile space, while Honda added 0.7%.
