Kaizer Chiefs may have given interim coach Cavin Johnson the opportunity to strengthen his technical team heading into the Christmas break, the Siya crew understands.

Local reports have already mentioned how former Orlando Pirates analyst Yusha Said is tipped to join the Naturena outfit, and Siya sources have now indicated when he could join Chiefs.

Siya sources have added how Johnson and Said’s previous working relationship is an advantage, as they had worked together part of Pitso Mosimane’s technical team while at Al Ahly.

Said was working for the Moroka Swallows technical team until this week, and he is expected to be unveiled by Amakhosi soon.

“The recommendation has come from the coach (Cavin Johnson). There were other areas of the game which he felt lacked at Chiefs and needed improving, that the analysis role is one of them hence the bringing in of Said,” said the Siya source.

“He will be involved in analyzing both the team and the opposition. (He will look at) the mistakes that the team makes and where they can improve. You know we are going towards the break soon but they want him to start before the break because there are games which we still have to play hence the need for someone like Said,” the source said.

A second Siya source discussed Johnson’s working relationship with Said and when the announcement could be made.

“The coach would really want to work with Said and that led to him being roped in. You know he was at Swallows but he has resigned with the intention of joining Chiefs. So, the club has agreed with him to start next week,” said the second Siya source.

“They have worked together before and the club believes this will help the team going forward. So, if he starts next week I will tell you,” the source observed.

Apart from Al Ahly, Said had also worked for Orlando Pirates in the past. Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received while preparing this story.
