Xiaomi will soon launch the Smart Plug 2 Wi-Fi in the EU. The gadget works with Google Home, allowing you to control regular devices with the Xiaomi Home app or Google Assistant voice commands. Other features of the product include scheduling and energy consumption tracking.

The Xiaomi Smart Plug 2 Wi-Fi EU is expected to launch soon; product listings have appeared in France and Germany. The gadget lets you turn older items, such as a lamp or a heater, into smart home devices with Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The smart plug works with Google Home, allowing you to control the device with Google Assistant voice commands.

You can also use the Xiaomi Home app to adjust the Smart Plug 2 (Wi-Fi), where you can schedule gadgets to be switched on or off at specific times. Plus, you can use the app to view energy consumption statistics, which Xiaomi suggests you could use to save money. In case of a power or Wi-Fi outage, device state memory and a programmed countdown, activated with a button press, ensure minimal disruption. Built-in sensors detect issues such as overcurrent or overheating, triggering app notifications, and the plug has a flame-retardant casing.

The compact gadget measures 74 x 52 x 76.6 mm (~2.9 x 2.0 x 3.0-in) and weighs 110 g (~3.9 oz). The Xiaomi Smart Plug 2 Wi-Fi EU is listed with a retail price of €19.99 in France and €13.99 in Germany. When the gadget will launch in these countries, or when it could reach other markets, is unclear.
