October 09, (THEWILL) – English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, on Monday, announced that Johan Lange has been hired as the team’s new Technical Director. Lange joins Spurs from fellow EPL side Aston Villa, where he served in a similar role since 2020.

The 45-year-old Dane will officially begin his new position on November 1. He replaces former Technical Director, Fabio Paratici, who resigned from Tottenham back in April amid sanctions handed down by FIFA, as THEWILL reported at the time.

In a statement, Tottenham’s Chief Football Officer, Scott Munn, praised Lange’s “excellent track record of scouting and signing many talented and successful youth and senior players.” He added that Lange’s recruitment skills and talent identification will be a “welcome addition” as the club looks to strengthen its football operations.

Prior to Aston Villa, Lange held various roles with Danish club FC Copenhagen and EPL side Wolverhampton Wanderers. He is credited with overseeing successful transfers and helping Villa become a top-half Europa Conference League club during his tenure there.

Lange’s appointment comes amid a period of front-office restructuring for Spurs under Munn. The club recently hired data analytics experts and parted ways with former chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini. Lange will take charge of recruitment and talent scouting for Tottenham’s senior and youth academies.
