Ellie Goulding says she’s okay and her ‘face is intact’ after a pyrotechnics near-miss while the singer performed at England’s Victorious Festival.

Ellie Goulding assures fans she’s okay after the singer appeared to get hit in the face by a firework during her performance at the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, England, over the weekend. Goulding continued with her set despite shouting an expletive and appearing to hold her face, as seen in fan-filmed videos shared on social media.

On Wednesday, the 36-year-old singer posted an update to her Instagram Story to let fans know she was unharmed. “To those asking, I am ok! Pyro didn’t hit me in the face. Face is intact. Love you, thank you,” Goulding writes, alongside a firework emoji.

The incident falls on the heels of an alarming number of artists who have dealt with similar instances of being hit with things while onstage, including Cardi B, Kelsea Ballerini, Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, Drake, Kid Cudi, Steve Lacy, and Pink. Bebe Rexha was hospitalized after a fan in the crowd threw a cellphone that hit her above the eye.

Ava Max got slapped by a man who was tackled by security after he rushed the stage during her performance in June at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. Max reports he scratched her eye and would not be allowed at future concerts.

Harry Styles was most recently hit in the face with an object from the crowd while performing in Vienna in July — but strangely, the former One Direction singer has been hit with several things during his Love On Tour performances this year, including Skittles candy, a tampon, a flower bouquet, and chicken nuggets.

Some people who have thrown items or otherwise assaulted the stage during a performance have been arrested, and some artists have said they will be pressing charges. Fortunately, in most cases, the artists have been unharmed — but it remains concerning that an increasing number of concertgoers seem to have forgotten how to behave in public.
