Jamaica’s technical leader to the NACAC Under 18 and Under 23 Championships in Costa Rica, David Riley has praised the nation’s athletes for stepping up to contest events for which they weren’t originally scheduled.

The team returned on Monday after having a depleted unit in Costa Rica due to travel documentation issues for several athletes.

In the meantime, Edwin Allen High sprinter Thieanna-Lee Terrelonge says she was not expecting to run as fast as she did in the 200 metres on Sunday.

Terrelonge secured the Under 18 girls sprint double after she sped to a NACAC U18 record of 23.53 seconds to win the 200 metres.

She erased the previous record of 23.73 which was held by fellow Jamaican Alana Reid. Jamaica ended second overall on the medal table with 32 medals including 13 gold, 14 silver and 5 bronze. The USA were the top country with 47 medals including 23 gold.
