EnergyLab’s Scaleup program welcomes ten climate tech start-ups

Ten climate tech start-ups, chosen for their leadership in the field, will collaborate with Australian energy companies through EnergyLab’s Scaleup Program.

The 2023 Scaleup Program cohort encompasses diverse global start-ups operating in the energy sector. They will work alongside energy companies to address technical challenges and seize opportunities for growth. The participating start-ups include Accurassi, ALD Technical Solutions, Alternative Energy Innovations, Energy Synapse, Enerza, IND Technology, My Solar Manager, Plexigrid, PowerPlay, and Oaktree Power.

The program, now in its fourth cohort, aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the energy grid. The selected start-ups will have the unique opportunity to work alongside innovative energy companies in Australia and New Zealand, including Endeavour Energy and Amber. They will also receive valuable support from investors and mentors to unlock their growth potential.

EnergyLab’s Scaleup Program, established in 2020 in collaboration with Australian utilities and start-ups, is industry-led and facilitates partnerships between selected start-ups and leading energy companies. By joining forces, they aim to drive innovation strategies and push the boundaries of the global energy transition.

Megan Fisher, CEO of EnergyLab, emphasizes the significance of collaboration in this endeavour. With participation from start-ups hailing from Spain, London, San Francisco, and beyond, Fisher eagerly anticipates the outcomes of these local and global projects resulting from the collaboration.

“The energy transition needs global collaboration to succeed and with startups as far away as Spain, London and San Francisco joining this program, we can’t wait to see the local and global projects that result,” she said.

“This program’s secret sauce is the chance for the startups to build relationships with each other, with industry partners, with investors and mentors in an intimate and collaborative setting.”

The startups will deepen their relationships with Endeavour Energy and Amber, an EnergyLab alumni, as well as other innovative energy companies in Australia and New Zealand.

Endeavour’s chief customer & strategy officer, Leanne Pickering, said the program critical as Australia’s energy system transitions.

“As a partner for the third consecutive year in Energy Lab’s Scaleup Program, Endeavour Energy is committed to supporting innovation and embracing new ideas and technology,” she said.

“This dynamic partnership will help challenge us to keep thinking outside the box so we can deliver affordable and reliable energy solutions for our customers. This year we’ll be focusing on initiatives to help decarbonise the grid and we can’t wait to see the great ideas generated from this collaboration.”

Throughout the program, the chosen start-ups will strengthen their relationships with Endeavour Energy, Amber, and other forward-thinking energy companies in Australia and New Zealand. They will benefit from the vast network of alumni, mentors, and experts associated with EnergyLab. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to connect with climate tech investors in the region.
