Twitter’s Latest Technical Mayhem – Links and Images Fail To Load

On Monday, a major technical outage troubled millions of Twitter users worldwide. People complained that they could no longer click on tweets leading to external articles, and almost all images on their feed failed to load.

Some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now. We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences. We’re working on this now and will share an update when it’s fixed.Twitter

According to the Down Detector, the problem began around 0830 Pacific Time. Every time a user clicked on an external link, they were met with an error message. Some users complained that even Twitter’s support page wasn’t working.

Videos and TweetDeck were also impossible to load, and the loading time for all Twitter pages increased significantly.

Ever since Elon Musk acquired the company and fired more than half of the team, people have been speculating that an organization-wide technical failure is just a few steps away. While that hasn’t happened yet, technical glitches have surely skyrocketed over the last few months. Just a week ago, another technical error left the users restless. And quite surprisingly, there’s been no mention of that issue on the company’s status page.

In fact, even at the beginning of February, Twitter was crowded with availability issues which immensely hampered the overall user experience. And yet again, no mention of the incident on the Twitter status page.

And as you might have already guessed, even for this global outage, there hasn’t been any mention of the incident on the status page.

During the early hours of the outage, the company quite confidently declared that everything was functional and running as usual.

Since Twitter’s mass layoff a few months ago, the company dismissed its entire PR team, so we couldn’t reach out to them for further comments. However, CEO Elon Musk did manage to acknowledge and respond to the issue.

These repeated glitches and poor service didn’t sit well with the advertisers. Reports suggest that more than half of Twitter’s top 1000 advertisers have stopped buying ads from the platform, a huge blow to the company’s revenue.

As of now, the problem seems to have been fixed for the majority. But a few individual cases of the glitch lingered for much longer than the rest.

Twitter is now a place of chaos

Chaos and controversy have been a constant part of Twitter ever since Elon Musk took over the reins. Along with the constant technical glitches, Twitter Insiders confided in BBC that they could no longer protect their users from trolling. The officials claim that the tools designed to stop and prevent cyberbullying are difficult to maintain without an adequate workforce.

In the report published on BBC, it has been noted that troll accounts have been on the rise in the past few months. Many rape survivors and minors have been targeted online. Abusive and misogynist profiles are taking over the platform. A Twitter employee reportedly told the BBC that while everything looks fine on the outside, everything inside Twitter is “on fire”.
