Max Launch Faces Technical Difficulties Across Various Platforms

HBO Max has officially become Max today, and the merged Warner Bros. Discovery streaming app has been causing user difficulties across different platforms. The app has encountered login errors, crashes, and in some instances, the app simply would not load.

The issues not only spanned the Max.com website but also mobile applications such as iOS and connected-TV apps on Roku and Samsung TV. However, minor problems have emerged and have been remedied quickly, according to a spokesperson from Warner Bros. Discovery. For the Max launch, the company is actively monitoring customer reports of technical problems from “war rooms” in multiple locations such as Bellevue, Wash., New York and London.

Warner Bros. Discovery CTO Avi Saxena stated in an interview with Variety on Monday that the entire team is prepared to respond to any technical issues that may occur. He also emphasized that it was anticipated that there would be issues during the tech roll-out at a scale such as this.

Despite the preparation measures taken by the company, some users still experienced technical difficulties. A user reported that he visited the site and clicked “start streaming,” and nothing happened as the next page didn’t even load. Such arising concerns regarding Max and future app functionalities might diminish accessibility and impede consumers’ satisfaction.
