Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have shown faith in the technical team, with indications that the club looks set to tie down a key member of the backroom staff, the Siya crew can reveal. 

Indications from sources are that contract talks with assistant coach Dillon Sheppard are believed to be planned for the coming weeks.

Insiders have revealed that a new, three-year deal is believed to be on the table, effective from July this year.   

The former Bidvest Wits youth coach is understood to have signed a three-year contract when he joined the club aloingside former coach Gavin Hunt in 2020.

Despite Chiefs’ topsy-turvy season under the new guard, it is understood that the club has shown faith in Sheppard. 

“When coach Gavin left coach Dillon remained, and his three year contract continued. Now that its expiring in June, the club is offering him another three years until June 2026.

“Actually, they want to keep him and that’s why they have put on the table this new offer. They say that he works very well with coach Arthur (Zwane) so they don’t want to disturb the progress. It’s not finalised yet, because there has been very little time between games and training but I hope soon it will be finalised,” the source said.

The well-travelled 44-year-old has featured for Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns, Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United, locally, among others, and has also plied his trade for also played for Panionios in Greece and Dynamo Moscow in Russia.
