“It was the right thing at that time, but it was really hard,” Paltrow, 50, told host Alex Cooper about the dissolution of their relationship. “There were a number of things that had happened, he was nine years older than me … he knew what he wanted, he was ready to do it and I was kind of all over the place. So it was really one of those difficult things, where I felt like, ‘Oh my God, not only am I not ready…’”

The pair met while filming Se7en in 1994 and Paltrow recalled that it was “major, major love at first sight.”

They ended their engagement in 1997 after she realized she was too young to be married.

“I think I was really a kid, like, really more so than a lot of 22 or 23 or 24-year-olds I would meet now,” she explained. “I had a lot of development to do, looking back in hindsight. In a lot of ways, I didn’t really fully start to come into myself until I was 40 years old.”

Cooper asked Paltrow to compare Pitt, 59, with Ben Affleck, who she dated between 1997 and 2000, in a game of “Brad or Ben?”

“That is really hard,” the Goop founder replied. “Because Brad was like the sort of major chemistry, love of your life.”

“And then Ben was, like, technically excellent. I can’t believe my daughter’s listening to this!” Paltrow said.

“God bless J.Lo and everything she is getting over there!” Cooper responded.

The Shakespeare in Love actress acknowledged Pitt and Affleck “were both good kissers,” but said Brad was a better actor.

When asked which star was more high maintenance, Paltrow struggled to answer. “I’m not sure I would characterize either of them as high maintenance … I feel like neither of them are very vain like that. I’m not attracted to guys who are looking at the mirror the whole time. Although, Ben did have, like, a mirror face that he would throw at the mirror. He had a funny mirror face.”

Paltrow went on to marry Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2003 before the pair “consciously uncoupled” in 2016.

When Cooper asked her to play “F—k, Marry, Kill” with her options being Pitt, Affleck and Martin, Paltrow replied, “Well, obviously, I’d marry Chris Martin because he gave me my two children who are the loves of my life.”

She admitted she would sleep with Pitt and again leaving Affleck in the cold. “Ben, yeah, God bless him.”

Elsewhere, Cooper asked if she had smooched with any other A-listers, throwing out Leonardo DiCaprio’s name.

“Nope, never made out with Leo,” Paltrow responded. “He tried back in the day. But he was already like, you know, he was very loose with the goods from when he was 19.”

Paltrow is now married to producer Brad Falchuk.

Speaking to Pitt last year for an interview on her Goop website, Paltrow said her late father was excited by the prospect of him becoming his son-in-law.

Later, Paltrow joked that she “finally found the Brad I was supposed to marry,” referring to Falchuk. “It just took me 20 years.”

“Oh man, everything works out, doesn’t it?” Pitt said.
