iPhone 15 Pro Will Not Feature Solid-State Buttons Due to Technical Issues: Report

|

According to the latest report, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may not feature solid-state buttons due to “unresolved technical issues.” Instead, the Pro models will sport regular physical buttons.

Apple is expected to launch this year’s iPhone 15 series in the latter half of 2023. The upcoming iPhone 15 lineup is expected to include the vanilla iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

iPhone 15 Pro Will Not Feature Solid-State Buttons

iPhone 15 Pro to Retain Physical Buttons

According to reputable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this year’s new iPhone Pro models will continue to feature physical buttons. This contradicts past rumors suggesting that Apple is planning to ditch physical buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max for solid-state buttons.

Previous reports indicated that the iPhone 15 Pro models will get solid-state buttons for the mute and volume buttons. Kuo claims that this will no longer be possible, citing “unresolved technical issues before mass production.”

The Apple analyst says that “both high-end iPhone 15 Pro models (Pro and Pro Max) will abandon the closely-watched solid-state button design and revert to the traditional physical button design.”

Kuo states that the iPhone 15 Pro is in the EVT development phase, so there’s still a chance that the design can be modified. He adds that the mass production schedule of the iPhone 15 Pro won’t be adversely affected even if Apple decides to go with physical buttons.

iPhone 15 Pro Rumored Features

The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to get major upgrades compared to the iPhone 14. According to leaks, the smartphone could feature a bigger camera bump with the lens sporting twice the protrusion as that of the iPhone 14 Pro.

The Pro model will also likely get improved camera sensors that are capable of capturing more light. As for the design, the upcoming smartphone is said to sport a titanium body with narrower bezels. The iPhone 14 Pro will also feature a USB Type-C port instead of a Lighting connector.
