ZTE Nubia Z50 Ultra arrives as new flagship smartphone with impressive camera technology

The Nubia Z50 Ultra continues with ZTE’s trend of including under-panel selfie cameras that create a notch-free viewing experience. ZTE calls its fourth-generation under-panel technology ‘Neovision’; image quality from the 16 MP camera remains to be seen, though. Elsewhere, ZTE has included a customisable physical slider that can serve as a mute switch or take fire up the default camera app, among other uses. The Nubia Z50 Ultra also ships with MyOS 13 based on Android 13 and has a USB 3.1 Type-C port for fast data transfer.

Arguably, the smartphone’s cameras are the star of the show, with a Sony IMX787 outputting at 64 MP as its primary camera, which provides a 35 mm equivalent focal length. The Nubia Z50 Ultra has a 64 MP telephoto camera too, with 3.3x optical zoom and an 85 mm equivalent focal length. Finally, there is a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 116˚ field of view and a 14 mm equivalent focal length. The Nubia Z50 Ultra will be available in China from March 14. By default, the smartphone will come in black and grey colourways, with a third ‘Starry Night’ option inspired by the Vincent Van Gogh painting of the same name.
