More than 200 administrative staff of the University of Technology (UTech) Jamaica stayed away from work on Monday, protesting the lack of progress in the ongoing compensation review.
President of the University of Technology Administrative Staff Association, Jeanette Grayson, says despite several meetings, there has been no definitive word from the university’s management as to where members of the administrative staff would fall within the new compensation regime.
She says a meeting held last month failed to move the discussions forward.
Ms Grayson says the membership of the association believes UTech’s administration is not being forceful enough in settling the matter.
A meeting is set for this Thursday at the Ministry of Labour to decide on the next steps.
