Laguna police destroy confiscated firecrackers, pyrotechnic materials worth P331,000

KAMPO HEN. PACIANO RIZAL, Sta. Cruz, Laguna — Authorities here destroyed some P331,000 worth of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic materials that were confiscated in simultaneous police operations in the province on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The firecrackers were destroyed

Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) chief Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, together with personnel of Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) soaked in water the confiscated illegal firecrackers.

The confiscated pyrotechnic materials were 1,583 pieces of kwitis, 75 pieces of sparkles, 289 pieces of six rocket, 175 pieces of boga, 158 pieces of judas belt, 411 pieces of fountain, 541 pieces of big lusis, 281 pieces of Roman candle, five pieces of spirit whip, 14 pieces of happy ball, six pieces of spring butterfly, a golden spinner, seven pieces of Mabuhay, 18 pieces of Poppop, five sputnik silver, a battery, 238 pieces of five star, three jumbo silver, 34 giant bawang, 367 pieces of giant whistle bomb, 10 pieces of mother rockets and 277 others firecrackers.

The estimated amount of the confiscated firecrackers was P331,664.

Silvio said that the Laguna PNP’s intensified operations against selling of prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices was in line with the implementation of Rule II of the revised Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) of R.A 7183 (An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution and Use of Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices).

Silvio commended the effort of Laguna PNP in the operation against selling of illegal firecrackers in Laguna.
