Two Republican attorneys general filed a lawsuit against Joe Biden, the White House, Jen Psaki, Dr. Fauci and other top administration officials, alleging that they “pressured and colluded” with Big Tech to censor information on the Hunter Biden laptop story, COVID-19 origin and vote-by-mail during the pandemic.
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry filed the lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Fox News reports.
The lawsuit accuses top ranking government officials of working with Meta, Twitter and YouTube “under the guise of combating misinformation” in order to achieve greater censorship.
The lawsuit also names Nina Jankowicz, the head of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) new “Disinformation Governance Board,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the CDC, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Jen Easterly as defendants.
The lawsuit alleges that the federal government violated constitutional rights to suppress free speech in “one of its greatest assaults by federal government officials in the Nation’s history.”
The defendants allegedly “coerced, threatened, and pressured social media platforms to censor disfavored speakers and viewpoints by using threats of adverse government action,” according to the filing.
“Having threatened and cajoled social-media platforms for years to censor viewpoints and speakers disfavored by the Left, senior government officials in the Executive Branch have moved into a phase of open collusion with social-media companies to suppress disfavored speakers, viewpoints, and content on social-media platforms under the Orwellian guise of halting so-called ‘disinformation,’ ‘misinformation,’ and ‘malinformation,’” the filing reads.
