The Glyph StudioRAID Thunderbolt 2 contains two hard disk drives and provides 3 drive modes. In RAID 1, you can write the same data to both drive bays simultaneously in real-time. It offers data redundancy so should a drive fail, your data remains available in the other disk drive. Meanwhile, the RAID 0 increases the data throughput and performance of StudioRAID Thunderbolt 2. It spreads the data across the two drive bays and offers the fastest data transfer. Note: RAID 0 is NOT fault-tolerant or redundant. Please make sure to frequently backup your data. Lastly, the JBOD Mode prevents drive waste by combining odd-sized drives into a single volume without losing any capacity. You can efficiently manage the system as this mode lets you use both drive bays independently.
Compared to other StudioRAID models, this external hard drive’s fastest interface is the Thunderbolt 2. When you connect the drive via Thunderbolt 2, it transfers data up to 360MB/s. You can also use the USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 backwards compatible) on the rear panel. The StudioRAID Thunderbolt 2 is compatible with Mac OS 10.4, Windows 7, and newer operating systems. The hard drive comes preformatted HFS+ with Journaling right out of the box. It works with Time Machine.
