Two adults and one child were injured Sunday afternoon when gunfire broke out during a youth football game at Oakland Technical High School, officials said.

The Oakland Police Department said the shooting occurred in the 4300 block of Broadway just after 1:15 p.m.,

The police department did not share the exact location, but Oakland Councilmember Sheng Thao wrote on Facebook that it happened at the high school “during a pee wee football game.”

“These cowardly acts of violence are not tolerable and should not be tolerated!” Thao wrote. “We must continue to crack down on ghost guns, gun traffickers and criminals who terrorize our community by resorting to gun violence.”

Witnesses told KTVU that families and kids were gathered for an Oakland Dynamites Pop Warner football game.

Police said the victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment and are in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information about Sunday’s shooting, can contact the police felony assault unit at (510) 238-3426.

This is a developing story and details will be added as they emerge.
