Tinubu Appoints PhD Holder In Maritime Technology As New NPA MD

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The announcement, made through a State House press release on Friday, also revealed the appointment of Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as Chairman of the NPA Board.

Dantsoho has over 25 years of maritime experience.

The appointee also holds a Doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University and a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, both in the United Kingdom.

Before this appointment, Dr. Dantsoho served in various capacities within the NPA, including Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager of Onne Port, and Principal Manager of Tariff and Billing.

In 2022, Dantsoho was appointed Chief of Staff to former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo.

The new MD takes over from Mohammed Bello-Koko, who has been at the helm of the NPA since February 22, 2022.

The new NPA board chairman, Senator Adeyeye, is a lawyer, journalist, and politician. He was once a Minister of State for Works and a former Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, who announced the appointments, said President Tinubu expects the new leadership to discharge its duties with excellence to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes.
