Tetra Pak partners with Israeli food tech incubator to ‘accelerate new food solutions’

Fresh Start, located in northern Israel, is run by four partners: Israel’s largest food manufacturer Tnuva, beverage company Tempo, and two investors: OurCrowd and Finistere Ventures.

Now, the food tech incubator is welcoming a new collaborator in Tetra Pak. The move marks the packaging major’s first collaboration with a food processing and technology incubator.

By collaborating with the incubator, Tetra Pak will be able to ‘share its knowledge’ in developing new food solutions with food innovations in Israel through ‘tailored consulting sessions’.

Start-ups will also have the opportunity to ‘engage directly’ with Tetra Pak, which with access to its product development centres and R&D support, could help them scale up.

From Tetra Pak’s perspective, the collaboration will help to drive ‘much-needed’ development and innovation. “The current food system is not sufficiently resilient to meet the demands of our growing population,” said Rodrigo Godoi, vice president, Professing Portfolio Management, Tetra Pak.

“By working together and combining Tetra Pak’s decades of industry experience and expertise with the breakthrough innovations of food incubators such as Fresh Start, we can accelerate new food solutions that create novel avenues for addressing the challenges of the modern food systems.”

For Fresh Start, the collaboration marks a ‘significant opportunity’ for its start-ups and their technologies. “The incubator start-ups are at the forefront of food innovation, and we look forward to seeing what they can achieve with Tetra Pak’s guidance and support,” said Fresh Start CEO Noga Sela Shalev.

Members of Fresh Start’s cohort and alumni include Alteco.ai, BlueTree Technologies, Sweet Balance, Profuse Technology, and Pigmentum.
