Thelwell plots Everton bid for “technically gifted” £20m talent, imagine him & Gordon

Everton have done very little business this summer making just one signing with James Tarkowski making the move to Merseyside, however, there may be a new potential transfer target being lined up.

What’s the latest?

According to 90min, Everton are one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing Paris Saint Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo.

As per the report, the French champion’s new manager Christophe Galtier has been impressed with the young player since he has taken over at pre-season despite a deal for £20m almost being finalised with Leeds United.

Newcastle United, Everton, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Nice and Rennes are all clubs interested in securing a deal for the forward, however, they will all now need to wait until a decision is made on his future in Paris.

Imagine him & Gordon

Following the exit of Richarlison earlier this month, there will be no doubt that Frank Lampard and the powers at Goodison Park are desperate to find a good replacement or even an improvement on the Brazilian winger ahead of next season.

Firstly, where did Everton finish in the Premier League?

The 20-year-old Frenchman has impressed during his loan with Ligue 1 side Lens last season and was a key player in the side’s seventh placed finish in the league.

Over 34 appearances Kalimuendo scored 12 goals and created three big chances while taking 1.8 shots and winning 2.1 duels per game. He also tallying up a pass accuracy of 97% in his own half and finished the term as the side’s top goal scorer.

The young forward has been the recipient of high praise for his development and progress so far with journalist Ben Jacobs hailing Kalimuendo as “technically gifted” while journalist Cameron Smith gave a more detailed analysis of his strengths (via Newcastle World):

“Kalimuendo is a modern forward, his incisive speed, decision-making, intelligence, and technical ability are all of the highest level.”

Lampard could even form a formidable partnership with the PSG star and Everton’s very own Anthony Gordon next season, as the pair could work well alongside each other in creating and converting goal-scoring opportunities at Goodison Park.

Incredibly talented and exciting young players, watching them develop in tandem is an incredibly exciting thought.

With that being said, if Kevin Thelwell can compete with the huge number of other clubs interested in Kalimuendo it would be a great piece of business for Everton in securing a player who has a bright future who could become the future of the Toffees’ forward line.
